R(roll r)zhyshchiv

I arrived in my new home, a small village called R(roll r)zhyshchiv, surprisingly spelled phonetically. It's very hard to pronounce so don't worry about it haha but it's about 2 hours south of Kyiv.

My host family is 3 generations living under one roof, which is very common in Ukraine. The grandma, or "babooshka", is Voila. She's so sweet and is always feeding me. (Toila = the grandpa, Natasha = the mom, Katya and Dar(roll r)inka = the daughters) It's culturally acceptable to always be around family, all the time. If you are alone, then something is wrong; goodbye personal space and privacy! I'm learning these cultural differences by making mistakes and the lack of communication doesn't help, nonetheless I'm learning right? No one really speaks English here and I'm usually misunderstood, it's definitely rough learning the language through full immersion! Even their alphabet takes getting used to! Some of their letters like "H" sound completely different, and some letters "X" and "P" are just hard to pronunciate. (H = ne sound, X = jewish heh sound, P = rolling r) Internet is limited so I better get off. All is well though!

I am almost relieved that its a small town! Big cities are dangerous. How much of it is underwater? You should swim inside the church. Maybe there is treasure in there?
