I was so excited! I even let out a giggle at the post office, causing everyone to shoot me "brick stares", but I didn't care! The first package I received from my Aunt/Godmother with disinfectant wipes, ziploc bags, napkins, beauty samples, a makeup bag, gummies, magazines, gum, plastic silverware, tooth brushes, and a handwritten card. The second I received from my friend Angela with pampering/beauty samples, a clear bag, a loofah, magazines, an American history book (so fancy and amazing), condiments, crystal light, gummies, and the sweetest note. I layed them all out and didn't clean them up for days! Haha I can tell how much time and effort when into making them, thank you so much! It made me feel super loved!
Really busy
with lesson planning but it's been way too long since my last update. I have been in a little bit of a slump recently, everything was just going wrong, it was the epitome of Murphy's Law happening over and over. I spent all my weekly grocery money on pizza ingredients only to buy the wrong kind of nearly everything = cooking fail (and left hungry). On Friday, I got a bad cough and my coworker urged me to stay home from school. I reluctantly agreed but then found out everyone at my school had a half day of lessons and the students put on a concert to show their appreciation for teachers in honor of the Ukrainian holiday "Teacher's Day" that weekend. No one told me about this, or as my coworkers put it, "I didn't ask," and would have loved to experience this tradition cough or no cough = communication fail. My teaching schedule completely changed (again) and I had to cancel my epic Shakespeare Halloween event because I no longer taught English Literature classes. I missed the last bus to go to a Peace Corps Volunteer's birthday party in a nearby town (Happy birthday Becca!) because I was discussing with the English teachers about these schedule changes and how they were unrealistic and above my required hours = schedule fail. I dropped my frying pan, resulting in a big dent and the black coating peeling off into my food so I had to spring for a new one = money fail. Still no mattress yet and sleeping on the couch has led me to take at least one tylenol a day to ease my back pain = sleeping fail. I found a tiny, orphan kitty on my door step and fed him for days, only to hear a big fat "no" from my landlord when I asked to keep him = companion fail. A few days later, I found him dead outside :( Very, very sad, but at least he doesn't have to wander alone and hungry anymore. I was hating life at this point. Discouraged and on my way home from an exhausting day of work, I walked into the post office to find not just one but TWO care packages waiting for me! This. changed. everything.

More good news came the next day! I received an email that my application and Skype interview were well received and I'll be an official EuroCup 2012 (soccer tournament in Europe) volunteer in Donetsk, Ukraine this summer! I'm ready to take on this week with a new attitude, life's what you make it right?
