With almost 2 years under my belt, I feel like I finally know my way around Peace Corps, my school, the language, the culture, and my bazaar (which took awhile). A lot of people from the states ask me whether I would recommend Peace Corps and I try not to answer it depending on what kind of week I'm having. I'm really excited to be on the home stretch but I also believe in the overused slogan "it's the hardest job you'll ever love". I've changed immensely because of this experience and even with my lowest lows, overall I'd recommend it. I think the change that I'm most proud of is how versatile and resourceful I've become, it's an empowering feeling. I recently stumbled on another Peace Corps volunteer's blog who put her answer more eloquently than I ever could. Even if you're not contemplating joining the Peace Corps, it's still a great read into the core experiences of a volunteer:

Tomorrow, there will be a Valentine's Day extravaganza complete with songs, games, plays, and scavenger hunts at my school. I've been planning this event for weeks with another English teacher at my school that I rarely get to work with. Hopefully all goes well, but knowing Ukraine, there's bound to be surprises. I've learned that bringing food always helps as a way to smooth over any hiccups so I baked a couple dozen chocolate cupcakes to keep everyone happy haha. Happy Valentine's Day!

I am so proud of you!
Yay! A new post! I love reading your blog, love. I'm so proud of how brave, resourceful and just plain amazing you've been while you've been in the peace corps. Although, I will admit, I can't wait to see you!
