last week, 40 hours to be exact, all of it inside Ukraine and most of it sleeping on trains (
конечно). I went to a Russian Language Refresher in a city called Chernihiv (2 hours away from Kyiv, Ukraine's capital). The Russian Language Refresher is a Peace Corps sponsored 4 day event for PC volunteers to improve their Russian language skills through classes, tutoring, games, and activities. A motivating factor about these Refreshers is you get to catch up with some volunteers you haven't seen in awhile because they live so far away. It was great to see so many familiar faces and even though we were there to practice Russian, it was also nice to speak English with them as well.
After the Resfresher, I went to my friend Hailey's birthday party in a town called Molodogvardeysk (a little less than 3 hours away from my site), which was tons of fun! I'll upload a picture when they start showing up on Facebook. Now I'm home and unfortunately sick with a horrible cold but school has been canceled so far this week because it's ridiculously cold outside, try -6F with a -29F wind chill! It's days like this I stay inside and practice my embroidery skills, which I learned how to embroider at the Refresher... in Russian... look at me go!
